Jean Finnila

Jean Finnila began photography as a hobby, but it soon flourished into a serious undertaking. Primarily devoted to fine arts landscape photography, Jean enjoys finding unique ways to artistically express nature's beauty throughout the seasons and at different times of day. She writes, “The colors in nature change from day to day and hour to hour. My goal is to capture nature’s beautiful colors and have them convey a feeling of tranquility and awe in the viewer. Being at the beach at sunrise or in the mountains at sunset makes it possible for me to achieve my goal.”

She has been studying photography under the watchful eye of noted photographer, Laury Egan, for six years. Her photographs have been displayed at the Frederick Gallery in a solo exhibit and as part of group shows at the Middletown Library, Sea Holly Art Gallery in Brielle, NJ, Thompson Park in Lincroft, NJ, the Guild of Creative Arts in Shrewsbury, NJ, and at the McKay Gallery in Red Bank, NJ. Some of her images have earned Honorable Mention awards in competitions at the Monmouth Camera Club and in the Sherman Hines Museum Postcard Competition and have been published in the on-line journal, Sea Stories. Her most recent accomplishment has been becoming an exhibiting member of the Guild of Creative Arts.
