Pratima Rao returns to the Guild with this class on oil painting. Students will learn to paint a successful landscape or still life in oils while in the studio by understanding key concepts of oil painting such as composition and design, effects of light, color value and temperature, lost and found edges, as well as linear and atmospheric perspectives. Students can use their plein air study and/or reference photographs to paint a landscape, seascape or still life of their choice.

Pratima Rao is an artist from Holmdel, New Jersey. Her art has been praised as filled with color and light, capturing the feel of a place with an unmistakable style and unique viewpoint. She has been involved with plein air painting in the US and abroad during trips to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, India, and Europe. Pratima has been juried into national plein air events and her works have been included in a number of shows and collected by patrons across the country.
